The goal of this website is to show the present owners of the Chanel company how much we miss the discontinued classics and hopefully, if they see that there is enough interest and demand, they will bring back the perfume!

Please leave a comment below (for example: of why you liked the perfume, describe the scent, time period or age you wore it, who gave it to you or what occasion, any specific memories), who knows, perhaps someone from the company might see it.

Glamour de Chanel c1933

Glamour de Chanel: created in 1933 by Ernest Beaux, the perfume was discontinued around 1949.

Fragrance Composition:

So what did it smell like? One reviewer noted that it smelt a lot like Chanel No. 5, but with more sweetened romantic floral notes.

It was described as "a piquant and sultry perfume both paradox only Chanel can achieve to bolster you on important evenings."

Drug & Cosmetic Industry - Volume 32 - Page 224, 1933:
"Glamour de Chanel is a delicate and lasting bouquet newly presented. It is packaged in typical Chanel manner in five sizes."

Glamour spawned a small cosmetic line in addition to the perfume, it included face powder and lipstick. The face powder was scented with the Glamour perfume.

Glamour de Chanel sold for the following in 1934:
  • 1/4 oz parfum - $2.25
  • 1/2 oz parfum $4.50
  • 7/8 oz parfum $7.50
  • 2 oz parfum $13.50
  • 4 oz parfum $25.00

Fate of the Fragrance:

This was still being sold in 1942. Discontinued, date unknown.

In my opinion, since the Wertheimer's owned both Chanel and Bourjois, that they tweaked Glamour de Chanel and launched it under the Bourjois label in 1953.
