Chanel Pour Monsieur - A Gentleman's Cologne c1955

Chanel Pour Monsieur: created in 1955 by Henri Robert.







So what does it smell like? It is classified as a classical mossy chypre fragrance for men. Spirited green-citrusy scent with woody-oriental base.
  • Top notes: bergamot, verbena, lemon, neroli and orange
  • Middle notes: pepper, cardamom, coriander, basil, and ginger
  • Base notes: musk, patchouli, tonka bean, ambergris, sandalwood, oakmoss, vetiver, cypress and cedar

It is presented in a bottle designed by Jacques Helleu.


Chanel Pour Monsieur was renamed A Gentleman's Cologne in 1967.

Chanel Pour Monsieur ConcentrĂ©: created in 1989 by Jacques Polge. An edt concentrate.
  • Top notes are petitgrain, lavender, lemon and mandarin orange
  • Middle notes are nutmeg and cardamom
  • Base notes are opoponax, vanilla, oakmoss and vetiver
